Mission:   The mission of the NIET college library is to provide college students with the information they need to achieve their highest academic potential and help them acquire research skills necessary for lifelong learning. To support teaching faculty and administrative staff and to participate in cooperative information exchange within the wider library / educational community.

Vision:  Information is an essential input to national development.  Our modern library has great responsibility in harnessing and utilization of information. Library strives for high quality of services which emphasis the actual delivery of information rather than actual delivery of documents for specific needs of the users. 

Genesis:   The NIET Library was established on 1st October 2001 with the inception of the college with a collection of 4000 books. The Library caters to all the students and faculty of college to pursue their study and research.

Objective:  The main objective of the library is to support the educational and research programs of the college by providing access to information consistent with the present and anticipated education and research function of the college.


The bonafide students of NIET College can only become a member of the Library. To become a member of the library, students have to fill the form available in library or download the form(s) from College Website [link is established in Library Profile Section of OPAC]. Each student paying the deposit (which is refundable) will be issued one reader’s card, which is not transferable.

Faculties by default are members of the college library, however they have to fill the form and register themselves in the library.

NIET Central Library

The Library has a total of 27834 volumes and 5187 titles. The library has automated its housekeeping operations using a home grown software LASAL. All the Circulation Functions are carried out using the Barcode Scanners. The library provides free Internet facility to Students and Staff using a Windows Server and 21 Work Stations. The Library has a rich collection in Advanced Digital Library wing called Center for Academic excellence and Faculty development (NPTEL Videos, Notes, E-Books which consists of Course Lectures for B. Tech delivered by IIT Professors. They are hosted on a “Unified Library Server” with 2 GIGA Bytes of Data).  . The Library has also academic e library package Knimbus and Wily Mechanical e journal packages for accessing the e journals and e books  The Library is Open from 9.00 am to 9.00 pm on all working Days.

  Procured 137 Titles  924 volumes under TEQIP and Academic E Library package E Journals& E Books through Knimbus Mechanical engineering E Journals through Wiley black well GIST for 2016 academic year


Achievements of the Library

1.Established Center for Academic excellence and Faculty development.

2.Loaded New Videos from NPTEL on Unified Library Server for easy viewing.

3. Completed Cataloguing of Student Project Reports received in the Library.

4. Searched E-journals and provided soft copies of articles to Faculties.

5. Completed processing of Bound Volumes.

6. Provided books to DELNET through Inter Library Loan.

7. Loading of NIET Catalogue Data on DELNET Union Catalogue of Books.

8. Provision of Access to Student Project Reports in the Library Catalogue.


Library Networking

Library is a member of DELNET. Recently it has also contributed the holdings of the library to the Union Catalogue of Books of the DELNET. Thus other libraries who are members of DELNET can request books from our library on Inter Library Loan (ILL).
